Tokyo reported 364 novel coronavirus infections on March 30, 27 more than the previous Tuesday, metropolitan health officials said.

The seven-day case average per day over the week through March 30 was 361.6, representing an increase of 17.4 percent from the preceding week, officials said.

Eighty-six new patients were in their 20s. Seventy-six were 65 or older, followed by 64 in their 30s, 55 in their 50s and 47 in their 40s. 

The number of serious COVID-19 cases requiring ventilators or an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) device, which circulates blood through an artificial lung, stood at 39, one fewer than the day before.
