Seasonal yellow dust is expected to arrive in western Japan from March 29 to 30, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
The agency confirmed the arrival of dust clouds in Hiroshima on the morning of March 29.
The JMA said the fine dust particles will likely reach the Tohoku and Hokkaido regions after the evening.
The agency is warning that transportation networks could be affected and is urging people to be careful when hanging laundry outdoors because the dust can adhere to clothing.
Yellow dust was observed in the Chinese mainland on the afternoon of March 28, as well as in the Korean Peninsula before dawn on the morning of March 29.
In some areas, visibility was reduced to less than 2 kilometers.
The density of the dust is expected to decrease before it nears Japan, the agency said.
But in northern Kyushu, Chugoku, Shikoku, Kinki and Hokuriku regions, visibility is expected to be reduced to under 10 km. In some areas, it will likely be 5 km or less.
