Tokyo confirmed 378 new COVID-19 cases on Feb. 17, the 11th consecutive day the count has remained below 500, according to metropolitan government officials.
The latest tally brought the daily average for the week ending Feb. 17 to 353.6, or 69.6 percent of the figure for the preceding week.
The number of serious cases in Tokyo requiring ventilators or extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, also known as an ECMO lung bypass machine, dropped by five from the previous day to 87 on Feb. 17, the officials said.
Of the 378 cases, 74 patients were in their 30s, followed by 66 in their 20s and 52 in their 50s. There were 85 patients aged 65 or older.
