Tokyo reported more than 20 new COVID-19 infections for the third straight day on June 13.
New cases of infection in the capital totaled 24, sources said.
The Tokyo metropolitan government on June 11 lifted its alert urging local residents to remain cautious about a further spread of COVID-19 infections.
But one benchmark used by the metropolitan government in deciding on lifting the alert is an average of 20 or fewer infections daily.
