Health authorities in Tokyo confirmed 13 new coronavirus cases on June 8, the eighth consecutive day of a double-digit figure, sources said.

The capital reported a total of 5,383 infections through June 7, which would bring the latest figure to 5,396 cases.

The Tokyo metropolitan government issued “Tokyo Alert” on June 2, urging people to be more vigilant about a second wave of COVID-19 infections.
