Tokyo confirmed 12 new COVID-19 cases on June 3, a day after a surge in infections prompted the metropolitan government to issue an alert for a possible second wave, sources said.
Thirty-four new coronavirus infections were reported in the capital on June 2, the first time in 19 days for the daily tally to reach the 30s.
