TAKARAZUKA, Hyogo Prefecture--A college student was arrested June 4 after an apparent crossbow attack killed two women and injured two others at a home here, Hyogo prefectural police said.
A resident near the house made a 119 emergency call at 10:15 a.m., saying, “An arrow-like thing is stuck in a woman’s ear.”
Two women, one in her 70s and the other in her 40s, were confirmed dead at the site. Another woman in her 40s and a man in his 20s were injured in the attack and taken to a hospital, police said.
The two dead women are believed to be the mother and grandmother of the suspect.
Hideaki Nozu, 23, who lives in the house and remained at the scene, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He has admitted to the charge, police said.
