Kyoto Animation Co.'s "Violet Evergarden: the Movie" will hit theaters on April 24.
The "Violet Evergarden" series is adapted from a novel by Kana Akatsuki published by Kyoto Animation’s KA Esuma Library imprint. The story centers around a young girl named Violet, a former soldier who was wounded severely in battle and had to be fitted with prosthetic arms.
Violet works as a ghostwriter.
The first offering from the franchise, the "Violet Evergarden" animated TV series, aired from January to April 2018.
A feature film spin-off titled “Violet Evergarden Gaiden: Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll" was released last September on schedule even though the No. 1 studio of Kyoto Animation was targeted in an arson attack in July that left 36 people dead.
The latest feature film was initially slated for release this January, but a delay was announced in September.
