Three men from Myanmar were arrested on suspicion of murdering a countryman outside of a nightclub in Tokyo’s Shinjuku district in July, the Metropolitan Police Department said on Aug. 18.
Chit Paw, a 22-year-old student at a trade school in the capital, was found beaten to death on a street early on July 7.
One of the suspects, Zaw Myo Htet, 24, told police that he hit the victim but had no intention of killing him, investigative sources said.
The two other suspects said they never hit the victim, the sources said.
The three Myanmar men met the student at a nightclub in Shinjuku, and they got to know each other, according to the sources. However, trouble arose and a fight broke out when the group left the club.
