YOKOHAMA--The city of Yokohama came second in a survey ranking the top three cities in Japan with the most spectacular night views.
The Kanagawa prefectural capital was included for the first time, ranking behind Kita-Kyushu and surpassing Nagasaki.
The latest list, which is updated every three years, was based on the online views of more than 6,600 people around the country.
The rankings were unveiled during an event held in Kita-Kyushu on Dec. 17 by Yakei Convention & Visitors Bureau and other organizations, Yokohama city officials said.
Yokohama was praised not only for its nightscape but also for making efforts to promote itself through such things as hosting the Yorunoyo light show and the Yokohama Sparkling Twilight fireworks display in the waterfront area.
“We will make further efforts to make our night view recognized by the world,” said Mayor Takeharu Yamanaka during a Dec. 20 news conference.
