KANAGAWA—Three children were found dead with head wounds at their house in Ebina, Kanagawa Prefecture, on Dec. 29, while their mother was hospitalized after an apparent suicide attempt, police said.
Their father discovered the grisly scene upon his return home and made an emergency call at 10:50 p.m.
According to police, the siblings are: Riko Hayashi, 15, a third-year junior high school student; Mako, 13, a first-year junior high school student; and Rei, 9, a fourth-year elementary school student.
The three were confirmed dead at a hospital.
Riko and Rei were bleeding from the head, while Mako was injured in the head.
Their mother was reportedly conscious, and police plan to question her about what had happened in the home.
The incident occurred in a two-family detached house. The five Hayashi family members--the three deceased and their parents--lived on the second floor.
There were no signs of vandalism or robbery at their home, police said.
