LONDON--Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako landed at an airport near London late June 22 as state guests at the invitation of King Charles.

The couple arrived (early morning of June 23, JST) at Stansted Airport by government chartered aircraft and were greeted by members of the British royal family.

The emperor and empress beamed as they stepped off the ramp. The couple were whisked from the airport by a Bentley limousine sent by the royal family to a hotel in central London.

They will take part in official events from June 25 through June 27.

On June 25, the king and Queen Camilla will host a state dinner for them at Buckingham Palace. The king and the emperor will each make a speech in the presence of members of the royal family and political and business dignitaries.

On the June 28, they will visit Oxford University, where they both studied, and depart for Japan the following day.
