TAKAMATSU--“Drive Shikoku,” a website set up to guide inbound tourists around the island of Shikoku, offers recommended routes and sightseeing spots in Kagawa, Tokushima, Ehime and Kochi prefectures.
Published by the Organization for Promotion of Tourism in Shikoku, the website is available in Japanese, English and Chinese.
Based on mobility data and other information on foreign tourists who visited Japan in the past, the entity selected around 60 sightseeing spots in the four prefectures.
It provides six driving routes with different themes.
For example, the Shikoku Pilgrimage and Nature Experiences route suggests a six-day, five-night itinerary starting at Takamatsu Airport and visiting Yashimaji temple in Takamatsu; Ryozenji temple in Naruto, Tokushima Prefecture; and Iwayaji temple in Kumakogen, Ehime Prefecture, among other sites.
With officials from each prefecture working on loan at the organization, their favorite eateries and spots are also included.
“We came up with routes we can recommend with confidence,” an official said.
