URAYASU, Chiba Prefecture—With a month to go before the much-awaited grand opening, a charming new area of Tokyo DisneySea here opened for a media preview on May 7.
This new area, Fantasy Springs, is divided into three parts inspired by the beloved Disney films “Frozen,” “Tangled” and “Peter Pan,” respectively.
Among the castle ramparts and pastel villages, Fantasy Springs houses four rides, including Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey, which takes visitors on a trip to the kingdom of Arendelle accompanied by famed songs from the films.
Fantasy Springs, which will open on June 6, also features restaurants and a hotel.
The 320-billion-yen ($2.07 billion) project will expand DisneySea by around 20 percent, making this the largest extension since the theme park opened in 2001, according to its operator, Oriental Land Co.
Oriental Land, which also runs the neighboring Tokyo Disneyland, reached 618.4 billion yen in sales in the fiscal year ending in March 2024. The company expects the new area to generate an additional 75 billion yen in annual revenues.
