DAISEN, Akita Prefecture--Billed as one of the most exciting nighttime events in Japan, the Omagari fireworks festival to be held here April 27 will close this year with a display by a U.S. company.
The spring portion of the All-Japan National Fireworks Competition along the Omonogawa river will feature around 8,000 small and large pyrotechnics, the Daisen city government announced.
Eighteen young pyrotechnicians from 12 prefectures around the country, including Tokyo and Kumamoto Prefecture, will unveil 15 new creations.

The spring chapter is devoted to new fireworks, in addition to featuring pyrotechnicians from outside Japan.
The autumn chapter focuses on artistic contributions.

The venue will open at 4 p.m., and the 90-minute show will start three hours later.
