NAGASAKI--The first Marriott hotel in Kyushu will open Jan. 16 with the aim of offering a resort-style experience despite overlooking a train station in the city center here.

Situated close to JR Nagasaki Station, the Nagasaki Marriott Hotel has 28 suites, with about 70 percent of its guest rooms equipped with a balcony for guests keen to enjoy the sea breeze and the night view of Nagasaki Port.

Guest rooms come in 13 variations of five types, with the standard room offering a spacious 36 square meters of indulgence.

The hotel has a total of 207 rooms, 142 of which have a balcony, according to JR Kyushu Hotel Management Co., its Fukuoka-based operator.

The Kamome Suite overlooks the train station and the Nagasaki cityscape. The 182-square-meter Imperial Suite is one of the largest hotel rooms in the Kyushu region.

The expansive white-themed reception lobby is reminiscent of the sail of a ship, accentuated with black accents.

Serving breakfast buffet, lunch and dinner, an all-day dining restaurant also comes with terrace seats and private rooms.

Cocktails made with seasonal fruits grown in Nagasaki Prefecture, along with other drinks, are available at the bar. The hotel also has teppanyaki and sushi restaurants.

“We hope Nagasaki locals will also come to the hotel and enjoy wining and dining,” said Cy West, the general manager.

Nagasaki Marriott Hotel is affiliated with U.S.-based hotel giant Marriott International Inc., which operates about 90 facilities in Japan.

It is the ninth Marriott brand hotel in the country.
