Queen+Adam Lambert will make its first appearance on “Kohaku Uta Gassen,” an iconic Japanese TV show that is a staple of New Year’s Eve, Japan Broadcasting Corp. (NHK) announced.
The celebrated rock band said on NHK’s website that it hopes fans will have a good time on New Year’s Eve, enjoying the band’s performance with their friends and loved ones.
Details of their appearance, including which song they will perform on the singing competition that pits mostly male musicians against mostly female performers, are yet to be decided, the public broadcaster said.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the debut of the British band, who survived the death of its famed original vocalist Freddie Mercury in 1991 and the subsequent departure of bassist John Deacon.
American singer Adam Lambert has toured worldwide with the band since 2012. Following its New Year’s Eve performance, Queen+Adam Lambert will tour Japan in February for shows in cities including Tokyo and Osaka.
