OSAKA--It will be celebration time in the Kansai region on Nov. 23 with victory parades scheduled for the Hanshin Tigers and the Orix Buffaloes in their hometowns of Kobe and Osaka to mark their league championships.
The two teams will parade in both of the two neighboring cities separately at different times on the national holiday.
The celebrations will take place in Osaka’s main Midosuji Street and Kobe’s Sannomiya district.
“We are preparing grand parades to share the joy with the two champion teams,” said Masayoshi Matsumoto, the chairman of the Kansai Economic Federation.
Matsumoto, Osaka Governor Hirofumi Yoshimura and Hyogo Governor Motohiko Saito made the announcement here on Sept. 22.
Fans at Hanshin Koshien Stadium went wild on Sept. 14 as the Tigers captured the Central League pennant for the first time in 18 years.
The following week, the Buffaloes won the Pacific League championship for the third year in a row.
