OSAKA--A man admitted to touching DJ Soda’s breast while his acquaintance acknowledged he grabbed her arm at a festival, but they insisted they meant no harm to the South Korean performer, sources said.
The two 20-year-olds submitted to voluntary questioning by Osaka prefectural police following a criminal complaint filed on behalf of DJ Soda by the music festival organizer, according to the investigative sources.
DJ Soda said on social media that she was groped while performing at the Music Circus ’23 in Sennan, Osaka Prefecture, on Aug. 13.
The college student from Kita-Kyushu and the part-time worker from Hannan told police their hands somehow ended up near her breast.
According to the sources, the college student told police he stretched out his hand because he wanted to touch DJ Soda but did not intend on touching her breast.
The part-time worker told police that as a fan he only wanted to touch her right arm but he instead grabbed her arm and pulled her toward him, the sources said.
The two men are believed to have appeared on a YouTube video on Aug. 21 in which they explained that they were drunk at the time of the incident and wanted to apologize to DJ Soda.
The criminal complaint was filed against two men and a woman on suspicion of groping the performer. Sources said police are continuing their investigation into the female suspect.
