Tokyo reported 2,025 new COVID-19 cases on May 23, 352 fewer than the previous Monday.
Metropolitan health officials also announced that six patients in their 60s through 80s died from the disease.
Four patients were in serious condition in the capital, requiring a ventilator or ECMO lung bypass machine.
The seven-day average of new cases in Tokyo over the week through May 23 was 3,509.9, accounting for 90.8 percent of the figure for the preceding week.
Of the latest daily count, 367 patients were in their 20s, the largest age group. They were followed by 359 patients in their 30s, 345 patients aged 9 or younger, and 300 in their 40s. Those 65 or older accounted for 137 cases.
