Fresh cases of COVID-19 in Tokyo on Feb. 12 fell to their lowest figure so far in February. There were also seven related deaths, metropolitan government officials said.
In Osaka, authorities reported 6,746 new cases on Feb. 12, a decrease of 4,172 over the previous Saturday, as well as 11 deaths linked to COVID-19.
In Tokyo, officials confirmed 11,765 cases in the capital on Feb. 12, a decrease of 9,357 over the same day of the previous week. It was the fourth straight day for a week-on-week decrease.
The daily average of new cases for the week ending Feb. 12 came to 16,350.4, lower than the average of 17,895.1 for the previous week.
Sixty-two patients were diagnosed with serious symptoms requiring the use of a ventilator or other specialized equipment to breathe. The figure was an increase of one from the previous day.
