Fresh COVID-19 cases continued to remain low in Tokyo as metropolitan officials confirmed 24 cases on Oct. 29.
But because new case figures have remained low for weeks, the latest count in the capital is only a decrease of two from the same day a week ago.
Moreover, the daily average of new cases for the week ending Oct. 29 was 25.4, which was 65 percent of the figure from the previous week.
Metropolitan officials reported three fatalities from COVID-19 as well as 14 patients with symptoms serious enough to require a ventilator or other equipment to breathe. The latter figure was a decrease of one from the previous day.
