OSAKA--Osaka Prefecture on April 29 confirmed 1,171 new COVID-19 cases, down 89 from the previous day when a record 1,260 new cases were reported.
The prefecture also logged a record 44 deaths from the disease on the day, topping the previous record of 23 recorded on Jan. 27. There were 14 deaths attributed to COVID-19 on April 28.
The latest figures raised the prefecture’s cumulative number of COVID-19 cases to 80,210 and its death toll to 1,448.
