Tokyo reported more than 400 new COVID-19 cases for the second straight day on Aug. 8.

The capital confirmed 429 cases on Aug. 8, following the 462 of the previous day.

Twelve straight days have now passed of Tokyo reporting 200 or more new infections.

Of the 429 new cases, 164 were individuals in their 20s and 110 were in their 30s. Those aged between 20 and 39 represented about 64 percent of the day’s total.

Among other age groups, there were 54 in their 40s; 41 in their 50s; 15 each in their 60s and teens; 14 in their 70s, seven under 10; five in their 90s and four in their 80s.
