After falling below 200 for two straight days, Tokyo confirmed 237 new novel coronavirus infections on July 21, Governor Yuriko Koike told reporters.
The total marked 13 consecutive days the daily tally has remained above 100 in the capital.
The 237 new COVID-19 cases follows 168 on July 20, and 188 on July 19.
From July 16 to 18, the daily count hovered near 300.
The metropolitan government raised its alert level on July 15 for the novel coronavirus pandemic to the highest of four levels, following a sharp increase in new infections.
