Tokyo confirmed 35 new COVID-19 infections on June 21, the fourth consecutive day that cases exceeded 30, sources said.
The capital recorded 39 new infections on June 20, 35 on June 19 and 41 on June 18.
The recent surge in numbers came after Tokyo confirmed 16 new cases on June 17, which marked the first time in a week the count had fallen below 20.
