One day after the number of COVID-19 cases in Tokyo dipped below 20 for the first time in seven days, the total jumped to 41 in the capital on June 18, according to sources.
It marked the first time since June 15 that the number of newly confirmed patients with COVID-19 in Tokyo exceeded 40. The number of new cases that day was 48, up from 47 the day before.
On June 17, 16 people tested positive for the new coronavirus in the capital.
