For the first time in two weeks, there were more than 20 new COVID-19 infections confirmed in Tokyo on May 29, sources said.
The number of new infections reached 22 on the fourth day after the state of emergency was lifted, bringing the total for the capital to 5,217.
The last time the daily number topped 20 was May 14, when there were 30 reported. Tokyo at the time was under the state of emergency over the new coronavirus, which was lifted on May 25.
