For the third consecutive day, Tokyo on April 10 marked a record number of new coronavirus infections with 189 confirmed cases, according to sources.
The number tops the 181 of the previous day and the 144 cases of April 8.
The latest daily record-breaking number came after Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike announced the list of businesses she would ask to close from April 11 to stop the further spread of the COVID-19 disease in the capital.
Tokyo is currently under a state of emergency that was declared by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on April 7.
