A fourth passenger who was aboard the coronavirus-infected Diamond Princess cruise ship quarantined at Yokohama Port has died, sources said on Feb. 25.
The octogenarian died at a medical institution, the sources said.
On Feb. 20, a man in his 80s from Kanagawa Prefecture and a woman in her 80s from Tokyo who had been infected with the new coronavirus and taken off the ship and hospitalized died of pneumonia.
A Japanese man in his 80s who was transported to a medical institution from the ship also died on Feb. 23 due to pneumonia. The health ministry has not disclosed whether the man was infected with the virus.
Of the more than 3,000 passengers and crew members aboard the Diamond Princess, nearly 700 passengers have become infected with the coronavirus.
