USJ’s new VR attraction “Monster Hunter World: Iceborne XR Walk” (Provided by Universal Studios Japan)
OSAKA--The fantasy-themed action role-playing video game “Monster Hunter” is being adapted as an attraction at Universal Studios Japan (USJ) here.
The attraction will open on March 20 for a limited run that ends Aug. 30.
Visitors will be able to experience “real hunting” on the lines of the game through the use of virtual reality (VR) technologies.
On the stage at “XR Walk,” it is being touted as one of the largest walk-around-style VR attractions in the world to date.
"Players" will be able to take on the role of "Hunter" in the quest to find and fight monsters. With each encounter, they will feel the "impact" as if they were actually engaged in combat with weapons while hearing the monsters’ cries when they are wounded.
