Shioyoshiken is a Kyoto-style traditional Japanese “wagashi” confectionery shop founded in 1882.
It is famous for its baked “Juraku” sweet named after the fact that the shop stands in one corner of the now-defunct Jurakudai palace built by feudal warlord Toyotomi Hideyoshi (1537-1598).
The shop features a "Chiyo Tansu" chest of drawers, which looks like an accessory for a dollhouse. Each drawer is filled with dry confectionery of a different flavor. Covered with colorful, custom-made “chiyogami” origami paper, the sturdily built toy chest can also be used as a graceful-looking accessory case.

Open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Closed on Sundays, holidays and Wednesdays once a month on an irregular basis.
