AMAGASAKI, Hyogo Prefecture--For tourists who haven't quite got their fill of Hello Kitty, a hotel here is offering rooms themed on the iconic character.
Hotel Vischio Amagasaki, run by JR West Hotel Group, is now accepting guests in its two Hello Kitty rooms.
The new rooms are aimed at attracting a wide range of fans, including inbound tourists.
The hotel group’s parent company, West Japan Railway Co. (JR West), has been developing tie-up products with the ubiquitous character, which is also popular outside Japan, including a Hello Kitty-themed Shinkansen.
The “Vischio Forest Adult Kawaii Room,” which accommodates up to two people, has a floor space of 20 square meters. It is designed to give the impression that guests are being received into Hello Kitty’s house in a forest.
The “Let’s Explore Kansai With Kitty-chan Super-Cute Room,” with a floor space of 30 square meters, is for up to three people. Featuring Hello Kitty sightseeing hotspots across the Kansai region, it is aimed at families, according to the hotel operator.
The rate for the Forest room starts at 33,000 yen ($303), including tax, and includes breakfast. The Explore room is available from 36,900 yen.
