A live-action TV series adaptation of “Yurucamp” (aka “Laid-Back Camp”) will premiere on TV Tokyo and other broadcasters on Jan. 9.

Each episode will also be streamed on Amazon Prime Video the day after it airs on television.

The drama is based on the original manga series by afro, currently published on the Comic Fuz manga app. It boasts more than 2.5 million copies in print.

The story begins as a high school girl named Rin Shima enjoys a solo camping trip by a lake on one winter day. But her peace is disturbed when she finds Nadeshiko Kagamihara, another high school student, who has lost her way after visiting there in an attempt to see Mount Fuji. As they share Rin’s curry-flavored instant ramen, Nadeshiko is mesmerized by the spectacular sight of Japan’s tallest peak.

The live-action drama will feature episodes as authentic as possible to the original manga, taking place in carefully selected locations, according to producers.

Actress Haruka Fukuhara plays Rin, while Nadeshiko is portrayed by Yuno Ohara. Members of their high school's Outdoor Exploration Club, President Chiaki Ogaki and Aoi Inuyama, are played by Momoko Tanabe and Yumena Yanai, respectively. Sara Shida has been cast for the role of Rin’s friend Ena Saito.
