KUWANA, Mie Prefecture--Visitors to the Nabana No Sato resort complex here can enjoy a light show at the annual summer illumination event.
Marking its fourth year, this summer’s illuminations feature a new attraction at the facility’s Begonia Garden, which is a massive greenhouse boasting 12,000 flowers of hundreds of species.
Spectators can keep cool during the event thanks to mist sprinklers in the greenhouse, where the temperature is kept at 20 degrees in the evening.
The illuminations will run until Sept. 18.
Other light shows available include “Milky Way,” an installation measuring 130 meters in length and 8 meters in width, which was built on a pond at the center of the facility.
Accompanied by Japanese festival music, the attraction lights up the night sky with rows of colorful LED bulbs, creating images of a flowing river, fireworks and beacon fires.
Bamboo lanterns and lit-up umbrellas also illuminate the pond to create the atmosphere of a traditional summer festival.
Admission is 1,700 yen ($11.69) per person and free for preschoolers. The ticket comes with a 1,000-yen voucher that can be used to pay the 500-yen admission fee to the Begonia Garden.
