HANNO, Saitama Prefecture--Bloodstains on clothing seized from the home of the suspect in a recent triple murder here matched the DNA of the victims, investigative sources said.

The suspect, 40-year-old Jun Saito, has denied involvement in the slayings.

“I didn’t do it. I had nothing to do with that,” investigators quoted him as saying.

But when he was arrested after the family of three were found dead on Christmas Day, Saito, a neighbor who lived about 60 meters away, said, “I don’t want to say anything,” according to investigators.

Saito was referred to prosecutors on Dec. 27 in connection with the murders of William Ross Bishop Jr., a 69-year-old American citizen, his 68-year-old wife Izumi Morita, and their 32-year-old daughter, Megumi, a company employee who lived in Tokyo’s Shibuya Ward and was visiting her parents for the holidays.

All three were killed by blows with a blunt instrument.

Police seized clothing and other items from Saito’s home for forensic examination.

DNA patterns on the blood-spattered clothes matched those of Bishop, Izumi and Megumi. 

Police said they believe Saito wore the clothes when the murders were committed.

Police discovered three bodies in separate locations outside the house.

Bloodstains were also found in the couple’s house, according to investigative sources. Police said they believe Saito attacked the victims indoors as well as outdoors.
