Want to stop and smell the roses while enjoying your favorite beverage?
An ice dealer and an edible flower maker have teamed to create a crystal-clear ice cube with a fragrant edible rose encased inside.
Chuoreito Industries Co., a long-established ice dealer based in Tokyo, and dot science Inc., another Tokyo-based company that researches and sells edible flowers, jointly developed the new ice cube to offer a rich experience of enjoying the scent and taste of a rose.
“We’re confident that the ice can offer special experiences,” said Ryo Ozawa, who heads dot science. “Enjoy its scent and flavors as well.”
The ice, measuring about 5 centimeters in diameter, releases the aroma of a rose when it melts in a cocktail or a glass of tea.
The ice cube has little impurities as it is made by being slowly frozen over 48 hours, according to the developers.
Each ice cube is offered for 864 yen ($6.74), including tax, for business use only. The minimum order is 20 ice cubes. They are sold on the dedicated website: (https://eflab.jp/flower-ice-art/).
