Tokyo authorities confirmed 20 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the capital on Dec. 11, an increase of one from the previous Saturday, but no fatalities.

The daily average of new cases for the week ending Dec. 11 came to 18.4, an increase of 25.2 percent over the average of the previous week.

Metropolitan government officials said three patients had symptoms serious enough to require the use of a ventilator or an ECMO heart-lung bypass machine to breathe. The figure was unchanged from the previous day.
