Tokyo confirmed seven new cases of COVID-19 on Dec. 6, down one from a week ago, according to metropolitan government officials.
The latest tally brought the daily average of new infections in the capital over the week through Dec. 6 to 16.1, or 111.8 percent of the figure for the preceding week.
No new deaths from the virus were reported in Tokyo the same day.
The number of serious cases in the capital requiring ventilators or extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, also known as an ECMO lung bypass machine, rose by one from the previous day to three.
