Tokyo confirmed 294 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus on Nov. 7, the highest figure since 339 reported on Aug. 20.
It was the third consecutive day for the number to exceed 200.
Of the 294 patients, 81 were in their 20s, followed by 55 in their 30s, 48 in their 40s and 33 in their 50s. Thirty-nine were 65 years old or older.
The metropolitan government said the number of serious cases requiring ventilators or extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, also known as an ECMO lung bypass machine, decreased by one from the previous day to 36 on Nov. 7.
