Tokyo broke another record of new coronavirus infections on April 9 with at least 180 people testing positive over the course of the day, sources said.
The figure is much higher than the 144 recorded on April 8, which was the largest daily number to date.
As of April 8, Tokyo had a total of 1,338 coronavirus infections and 35 deaths from the virus.
