The water supply was partially restored in domestic terminal buildings at Haneda Airport in Tokyo after being cut off around 9 a.m. on Nov. 6, affecting restaurants and travelers using restrooms there.
A worker detected a salty taste in water at a facility for washing aircraft at the airport around 8:20 a.m., according to Airport Facilities Co., which manages water supply and drainage at Haneda.
The water supply was suspended at the two terminal buildings for domestic flights while Airport Facilities investigated the cause of the abnormality.
The water supply to the Terminal 1 building was restored just past 2. p.m. after Airport Facilities investigators did not find any additional abnormalities in the water quality.
The Terminal 2 building remained without water as of 5 p.m.
The water outage has not affected flights. And the transport ministry said water was being supplied to the international terminal building.
The Waterworks Bureau of the Tokyo metropolitan government said it has found nothing wrong with its supply system.
